Climate law of the European Union – the principle of civil society participation in the decision–making process and the principle of environmental integration

Abstract

European climate legislation (this group includes a large number of legal acts – on greenhouse gases, on the «energy transition», on the climate doctrine or on decarbonization) currently has dozens of acts (directives), norms, decisions, regulating the entire spectrum of the climate, energy, and economic agendas. The review article is devoted to the key acts in this area – the European Climate Law and the European Green Deal, as well as the key principles underlying EU climate law – the principle of civil society participation in decisionmaking and the principle of environmental integration. Special attention is devoted to the issue of the impact of the EU climate strategy on the climate law of Russia.
