Abstract

The main provisions of the sixth Report of the UN International Panel of Experts on Climate Change 2023, reflecting the key trends of climate change as a result of human activity, are considered. The points of view of sociologists, political scientists, jurists and representatives of other social and natural sciences on the negative impact of this activity on the climate are analyzed. The presented scientific studies confirm the existence of real facts of criminal damage to the environment – the atmosphere, the oceans, the earth and forests, the animal world under the influence of this activity. Their denial is not supported by scientists. The problems of international and Russian environmental crime, including climate, are identified, and criminal crime data in this area are provided. The role of the scientific community, international and national courts and other law enforcement agencies, international organizations in combating the negative impact on the climate is traced.
